Shemitah

2015 in Prophecy –America and the Shemitah Year Judgment!

The mystery of the Shemitah year as it relates to modern America-Ephraim has been stunningly revealed.
America is headed for catastrophe and judgment, as this little-known prophecy shows!
by William F. Dankenbring
Blood moons, plummeting stock markets and a growing Ebola pandemic dominated the headlines in September-October 2014.
If that’s not enough cause for concern, an army of Islamic terrorists called ISIS or IS for “Islamic State” is creating chaos and mass beheadings in its attempt to create an Islamic Caliphate in the Middle East, and threatens Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and says it will also raise its black flag over the White House.
None of this should come as a surprise to those who have read “The Mystery of the Shemitah” by Jonathan Cahn, a messianic rabbi and Bible teacher from New Jersey who also authored the best-selling Christian book “The Harbinger” in 2012. Without a doubt, the Shemitah year, which kicked off on Sept. 25, according to the Jewish calendar, has begun with a torrent of bad news. Jonathan Cahn predicted in “The Harbinger” that America would come under judgment in the wake of the 9/11 attacks because, rather than being humbled and repentant, the nation doubled down on abortions, pornography and the removal of prayer and all things Christian from the public square. In the “Shemitah,” he reveals that judgment comes to a backslid-den nation in accordance with a seven-year cycle that correlates with the Hebrew calendar.
What is all this about a “Shemitah” year?
In Leviticus 25, God commanded the Israelites to observe a Sabbath year once every seven years in which they would let their land lie fallow, while in Deuteronomy 15 He instructed them to cancel debts in line with this same seven-year timetable. Cahn explains that the seven-year cycles can manifest as blessings as long as a nation follows the will of God. But for those that started out under God only to later stray, the Shemitah can bring a series of ever harsher judgments, usually striking in the financial realm and spilling over into the political and military arenas. The Shemitah Commandment In Leviticus chapter 25 we read: “And the LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying,‘Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a Sabbath to the LORD. Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather its fruit; but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the LORD. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard. What grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine, for it is a year of rest for the land. And the Sabbath produce of the land shall be food for you: for you, your male and female servants, your hired man, and the stranger who dwells with you, for your livestock and the beasts that are in your land—all its produce shall be for food” (Lev.25:1-7). Mystery of mysteries!
What does this all have to do with today? A New Look at the Jubilee Cycle Interestingly, according to the chronology of archbishop James Ussher, Israel left Egypt in 1491 B.C. They wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, because of their disobedience and lack of faith in God (Num.14:34). Therefore, they entered the Holy Land in 1451 B.C. When Israel first entered the Promised Land, they erected the Tabernacle at Gigal. There it remained for 14 years – the time required for the people to conquer and occupy the land. Once the land was conquered and occupied, the counting of the Sabbath land cycles could commence, and the counting of the Jubilee years. This means that if we subtract 14 years from 1451, we come to 1437-36 B.C., the year of settlement and the beginning of the Jubilee count. Historically, Tiglath-Pileser came to power in Assyria and launched the Assyrian Empire in 745 B.C. Says Werner Keller’s The Bible As History, “In 745 B.C. a former soldier by name Pulu had  ascended the throne of Assyria and from then on was known as Tiglath-Pileser III. He was the first of a succession of brutal tyrants who conquered what was so far the greatest empire of the Ancient East. . . .
“From North Syria Tiglath-Pileser III swept through the Mediterranean countries, and forced independent peoples to become provinces and tributaries of the Assyrian Empire. Israel at first submitted voluntarily: ‘And Menahem gave Pul 1,000 talents of silver, that his hand might be with him, to confirm the kingdom in his hand. And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land’ (II Kings 15:19-20)” (page 242). 745 B.C. was a Shemitah year. Then, seven years later, in 738 B.C., another Shemitah year occurred. 737 B.C. was then a Jubilee year. Then, in 730-729, another Shemitah year, followed by another in 723-722. These Shemitah years all line up with Assyrian invasions of Israel! 745 Tiglath-Pileser rose to power Shemitah year 738 Tiglath-Pileser invades of northern Israel Shemitah year 737 Tribute paid to Assyria Jubilee year 730 Shalmaneser IV invades Israel Shemitah year 723 Shalmaneser IV again invades Israel Shemitah year 718 Israel carried captive by Sargon of Assyria after 3-year siege.
It is noteworthy that national disasters befell ancient Israel on Shemitah years –the land Sabbath years which they failed to observe as God commanded. During the invasion of 738 B.C. several cities were destroyed. “In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel BethMaachah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria”(II Kings 15:29). Declares Peloubet’s Bible Dictionary, “The Tiglath-pileser of the Old Testament is Tiglath-pileser III, whose original name apparently was Pulu. He first became known to the Israelites under the name of Pul (II Kings 15:19). He usurped the throne of Assyria about B.C. 745. Shortly after his accession he made a campaign northern Syria and Menahem of Israel among other neighboring kings, paid him tribute, B.C. 738. When Pekah king of Israel and Rezin of Damascus made a league and attacked Ahaz of Judah the latter asked aid of the powerful Assyrian king. Tiglath-pileser then attacked Philistia, Phoenicia, Syria and northern Israel. . .” (“Tiglath-pileser, p.692). Israel boasted that they would “rebuild,”bigger and stronger than ever! (Isaiah 9:8-10). But Israel did not repent. This was a Shemitah year. Says the Adam Clarke Commentary, by this figurative speech, “they boast that they shall easily be able to repair their present losses, suffered perhaps by the first Assyrian invasion under Tiglath-Pileser; and to bring their affairs to a more flourishing condition than ever.”
The Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary points out that the Lord sent a word of warning to Israel, through His prophets, that they were headed in the wrong direction, but rather than receive the rebuke and repent of their sins, they rejected the divine warning. “Granting, say the Ephraimites to the prophet’s threat, that our affairs are in a ruinous state, we will restore them to more than their former magnificence. Self-confident unwillingness to see and to repent under the judgments of God.” Because Israel refused to repent after the first Assyrian incursions, God sent the adversaries of Rezin, the Assyrians, against Israel again. Says the Commentary, “This is the punishment of Ephraim’s pride in making light of the judgment already inflicted by God through Tiglath-Pileser (II Kings 15:17-22).” This means that 745-744, was a Shemitah year, 738-737 was a Shemitah year, 737-36 was a Jubilee year and 730-729 was a Shemitah year, as was 723-722. Israel was again invaded in 723-722 and besieged from 721-718 and after a three-year siege they were taken into captivity. Thus Tiglath-Pileser rose to power in 745 B.C., a Shemitah year, and invaded Israel in 738 B.C., a Shemitah year. A second invasion occurred in 730-729 B.C, a Shemitah year, by Shalmaneser, and seven years later, 723-722, another Shemitah year, a final invasion occurred ending in a siege from 722-718, and this time Assyria took all Israel into captivity.
The Shemitah Year and America -What does all this have to do with America?
Jonathan Cahn in his sequel to the book,The Harbinger, points out in The Mystery of the Shemitah, a shocking discovery that the five great economic crashes of the last 40 years—1973, 1980, 1987, 2001 and 2008 – have all occurred in Shemitah years(every seventh year) –those God set apart as Sabbath years (years of rest for the land). Cahn pointed out in The Harbinger, in 2001 (Twin Towers/economic crash) and 2008 (Wall Street crash) both coincided precisely with the exact end of the Shemitah year on the Hebrew calendar day of Elul 29). This is the day before Tishri 1 which is the beginning of the calendar of the new Hebrew year (the fall to fall reckoning).
What did all this mean?
Cahn summed up his message by saying, “America is progressing toward God’s judgment.” According to the Bible, the Shemitah year was set aside as a blessing for the nation of Israel. It was to be set aside as a rest for the land with no sowing or reaping. Instead, God would provide food miraculously for the people, as he did during the Exodus from Egypt. “However, Cahn points out, if the Shemitah was not observed by the people, it would become a curse, as described later in Leviticus chapter 25. That’s exactly what happened in 586 B.C. The Temple fell and Judah went into captivity in Babylon for 70 years. Cahn explains that the Shemitah can mean a “release”– and in ancient Israel debts were canceled and land returned to its original owners.
But it can also mean “to fall, to collapse, or to shake.” Among the stunning findings of the author who found jaw-dropping links between the 9/11 terrorist attack and an otherwise obscure biblical passage, Isaiah 9:10, is that “100 percent of the worst U.S. economic calamities since WW II are all lined to the Shemitah falls.” “But more than that –all of the great economic crashes in U.S. history, including the Great Depression, line up with Shemitah years. It has been affecting everything in our lives. There’s no end to it. It’s amazing. It’s precise. It is down to the days, the hours, the minutes, even the seconds.” This is a phenomenal revelation that all these collapses have occurred on Shemitah years. Joseph Farah of World Net Daily declared, “This one of the scariest things I have ever read. If ‘The Harbinger’ got your attention, ‘The Mystery of the Shemitah’ will have you on your face praying.”
Jonathan Cahn also points out that in 1931, a solar eclipse took place September 23 – the end of another “Shemitah” year. Eight days later, England abandoned the gold standard, setting off market crashes and bank failures around the world. It also ushered in the greatest month-long stock market percentage crash in Wall Street history. In 1987, a solar eclipse took place September 23 – again the end of a ‘Shemitah’ year. Less than 30 days later came ‘Black Monday’ the greatest percentage crash in Wall Street history.
What does this mean for September 13, 2015
One year from now at the end of the Shemitah year that begins this fall and terminates Elul 29 which is September 13, 2015? Jonathan Cahn is careful to avoid a prediction but says, “In the past, this ushered in the worst collapses in Wall Street history. What will it bring this time? The phenomenon does not have to manifest at the next convergence. But at the same time, and again, it is wise to take note.” Cahn continues, “To top it off, Shemitah years are also grouped in sevens – with the 50th year being a Jubilee – or trumpet blast. The jubilee was something of a super Shemitah,” writes Cahn. “It was the Shemitah taken to a new level. In the year of the Shemitah the land rested – so too in the Year of the Jubilee. In the year of the Shemitah came release. But in the Year of Jubilee the release took on new meaning. It was not simply the letting go of Land or debt. In the jubilee, slaves and prisoners were set free. It was thus the year of liberty. From the 40-year period beginning in 1973, every single one of the five greatest financial and economic peaks and collapses have converged, clustered and taken place according to the set time of the Shemitah. Something very much more than natural is indeed going on.” Concludes Jonathan Cahn. “And the signs of the phenomenon all point to the same ancient biblical mystery. If the collapse of the world’s stock markets were an act of crime, the Shemitah would have long ago been indicted for the evidence left at the crime scene. In its numbers, it connections, its convergences, its percentages, its magnitude and its consistency, the amount of fingerprints covering the financial cataclysms of modern times is overwhelming.” He adds, “The phenomenon may manifest in one cycle and not in another and then again in the next. The focus of the message is not date-setting but the call of God to repentance and return. At the same time, something of significance could take place, and it is wise to note the times.”
The Shemitah Warnings
It is interesting that in 1993-94 – a Shemitah year – the Oslo Peace Accords signed by Yitzhak Rabin of Israel and Yasser Arafat of the Palestinians on the White House lawn. This could be referred to as the “Beginning of Jacob’s Trouble.” The Oslo Agreement, also knows as the Oslo Accords, is an agreement signed between the State of Israel’s Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat representing both sides and US President Bill Clinton serving as their witness. The accords, representing a milestone in Israeli-Palestinian relations, were finalized in Oslo, Norway, on August 20, 1993. The official signing ceremony was held in Washington the following September, with then-Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Chairman Arafat. This occurred on a Shemitah year. It will go down in history as a year of infamy and perfidy and shame. In 2000-2001—another Shemitah year – America’s economy collapsed, following the attack on the Twin Trade Towers, Sept.11, 2001. This was another year of horror and infamy, with the greatest attack on America since Pearl Harbor in 1941. Then in 2007-2008 – another Shemitah year- a second financial, Stock Market collapse occurred, which was much worse. The financial crisis of 2007–2008, also known as the Global Financial Crisis and 2008 financial crisis, is considered by many economists to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It resulted in the threat of total collapse of large financial institutions, the bailout of banks by national governments, and downturns in stock markets around the world.
In this present 2014-2015 year, beginning in September, another Shemitah cycle concludes in September of 2015. What will happen this time? Is this the FINAL WARNING? Is this when final JUDGMENT will fall?Could it be the final breaking, “shattering” of American economic power, unity, and loss of superpower status? Will 2015 witness the final COLLAPSE of America’s dollar as a reserve currency for the world, and lead to economic chaos and a new world global financial system – a New World Order?
Modern America is descended largely from ancient Ephraim, the second son of Joseph, son of Jacob. In another strange prophecy in Isaiah, we read, “The fortress also will cease from Ephraim, the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria, says the LORD of hosts. In that day it shall come to pass that the glory of Jacob will wane, and the fatness of his flesh grow lean. It shall be as when the harvester gathers the grain, and reaps the heads with his arm; It shall be as he who gathers heads of grain in the Valley of Rephaim. Yet gleaning grapes will be left in it. Like the shaking of an olive tree. Two or three olives at the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in its most fruitful branches,” says the LORD God of Israel” (Isaiah 17: 3-10). This terrible calamity is prophesied. But when will it occur? God’s Word explains why judgment is coming. Declares Isaiah the prophet, “In that day a man will look to his Maker, and his eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel. He will not look to the altars, the work of his hands; He will not respect what his fingers have made, nor the wooden images nor the incense altars. In that day his strong cities will be as a forsaken bough and an uppermost branch which they left because of the children of Israel; and there will be desolation. Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold. Therefore you will plant pleasant plants and set out foreign seedlings; In the day you will make your plant to grow, and in the morning you will make your seed to flourish; but the harvest will be a heap of ruins in the day of grief and desperate sorrow” (Isaiah 17:7-11). A day of tremendous “grief and desperate sorrow” lies ahead of us. But when will it begin? I received an email from Paul Marianovits in Canada about the blood red moon tetrads and Isaiah 7:8.
He points out that there were blood red moons following Israel becoming a state in 1948.
  • Passover, April 13, 1949 — blood red moon
  • Sukkoth, October 7, 1949 — blood red moon
  • Passover, April 2, 1950 — blood red moon
  • Sukkoth, Sept 26, 1950 — blood red moon
This year, 2014, and 2015, two more blood red moons occur on or near Holy Days of God:
  • Passover, April 15, 2014—blood red moon
  • Sukkoth, October 8, 2014—blood red moon
  • Passover, April 4, 2015— blood red moon
  • Sukkoth , September 28, 2015—blood red moon
Now notice Isaiah 7:8 (NKJV) – a prophecy concerning Ephraim (modern USA) and Syria (a nation rent by civil war at the present time, with the US caught in the middle). Isaiah says, “For the head of Syria is Damascus (its capital), and the head of Damascus is Rezin [Heb., “firm”). Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken(literally shattered), so that it will not be a people.”Gesenius Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon defines the Hebrew word translated in this verse as “broken,” Strong’s 2865 as meaning “to be broken,” “to be broken down with fear, to be confounded.” The NRSV has it as “shattered.” Moffat has the passage as “Ephraim shall be so shattered that it ceases to be a nation.” The Jewish Tanakh has it, “Ephraim shall be shattered as a people.” The Amplified-Parallel Bible has it as “Within sixty five years Ephraim will be broken to pieces so that it will no longer be a people.” What is this mysterious prophecy? What is the 65 years? Notice that it refers to “Ephraim.” Ephraim is modern day America! So America will “fall” or be “shattered” in 65 years. Sixty-five years from when?
The last blood red moon tetrad ended in 1950, on Passover and Sukkot. If we count 65 years from then, we come to Passover 2015 and Sukkot 2015!
1950 A.D. + 65 years = 2015 A.D. Incredible! Does this mean America –modern Ephraim – will be “shattered” in the year 2015? Could that refer to an economic collapse, a terrorist attack, or a combination or collection of mind-numbing adversities and mind-boggling catastrophes?
We will soon see. In the meantime, we should prepare for the worst. Many signs indicate dire and disastrous times lie directly ahead of us. Great distress and tribulation are rising up, and fear and panic are escalating everywhere. Solomon says in Proverbs 22:3—“A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.” The Word of God declares, “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge. Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, because you disdained all my counsel, and would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes . . . .“For the turning away of the simple will slay them and the complacency of fools will destroy them. But whoever listens to me will dwell safely and will be secure without fear of evil”(Proverbs 1:20-33).
